Rebedding and Pointing
Rebedding and pointing is the cement work on a tiled roof that secures and waterproofs the ridge capping, gable ends and valleys. It is very important that your bedding and pointing is in good condition as it is vital to waterproofing your roof and securing your roof properly and protecting it from storm damage, bird and pest infestation and leaking.
It is a 2-stage process and it’s critical that it’s done properly and by someone who knows what they’re doing or you could pay the price later on and have substantial internal damage to plaster and structural framing of the house.
The bedding is a mixture of 4 parts sand to 1 part cement and it supports the ridge or fills the space under the tile on a gable end or valley. When this is dry a 3-5 mm layer of flexible pointing is applied smoothly over the bedding and on the overlap (collar) on a ridge cap.
